Sète: Floating breakwater and dock for small boats

At Port Sud de France (Sète), a solution was needed to effectively protect the marina from the strong waves generated by fishing vessel traffic, ensuring safe coexistence between the fishing and recreational fleets.
MSI carried out one of the largest floating breakwater installations in Europe, spanning nearly two kilometers in length. The project combines a first section consisting of SF1230 modules arranged in parallel, reaching 6 meters in width and intended for boat mooring, and a second section comprising a 4-meter T400 floating breakwater, guided by internal piles and also equipped for mooring via jetties in the protected area.
The solution offers excellent wave attenuation and effective, long-lasting protection for the marina.

Key facts

Large scale

Installation of one of Europe's largest floating breakwaters, with a length of nearly two kilometers.

Modules in parallel

The first section consists of T62 modules arranged in parallel, reaching a total width of six meters.

T400 Breakwater

This is followed by a four-meter-wide T400 floating breakwater, supported by piles.

Tethering system

Installation of boarding bridges secured using a Halfen side profile in the protected interior area.

Wave attenuation

High wave-attenuation capacity that allows fishing and recreational fleets to coexist safely.
