Efficient floating solutions designed for the marine environment

At Marina System Ibérica (MSI), we view sustainability as a direct result of well-planned engineering. We work in sensitive marine and port environments, where every decision regarding design, materials, and construction processes has a long-term impact.

Our approach is not driven by commercial considerations, but rather by a particular philosophy of engineering: designing functional, reliable infrastructure built to last, minimizing the need for future maintenance, and optimizing the use of resources throughout its entire lifecycle.

Durability-focused design

Durability-focused design

The foundation of a sustainable infrastructure is its durability under actual service conditions. At MSI, we are committed to robust structural solutions that are properly sized and adapted to the environmental stresses of the site.

The use of proven materials, such as concrete and expanded polystyrene, combined with sound structural design, makes it possible to build infrastructure with a long service life and optimized maintenance requirements, thereby reducing resource consumption over time.

Optimization of Materials and Processes

Sustainability is also an integral part of our industrial processes. At the factory, polystyrene scraps generated during the cutting process are collected and bagged for subsequent recycling. To this end, MSI has invested in specialized machinery that significantly reduces the volume of material transported by road, thereby minimizing the environmental impact associated with logistics.

When applied systematically, these types of technical decisions contribute to more efficient material management without compromising the performance of the solutions developed.

Integration into the marine environment

Integration into the marine environment

Each project is designed with its specific environment, from both an environmental and operational standpoint. We analyze the site conditions to ensure the infrastructure is seamlessly integrated into the marine and port environment.

We follow the international recommendations of PIANC – Working with Nature, which promote technical solutions compatible with natural processes, avoiding unnecessary alterations to currents, sediments, and ecosystems.

Life cycle approach

Life cycle approach

Our work is not limited to the design or installation phase. We evaluate the performance of infrastructure throughout its lifecycle, taking into account factors such as:

  • Expected service life of the structure
  • Maintenance requirements
  • Accessibility for inspections
  • Potential for adaptation to new uses

This approach helps minimize future maintenance and ensures efficient and safe operation for decades to come.

Collaboration and technical responsibility

Collaboration and technical responsibility

Sustainability in port environments requires a coordinated approach. For this reason, we regularly collaborate with port authorities, engineering firms, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure that each project complies with applicable technical, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

As a technically oriented company with a long family tradition, we take full responsibility for what we design and build, mindful of the long-term impact of every decision we make.

Efficient and sustainable solutions

At MSI, sustainability is a direct result of how we develop our solutions.
We are committed to creating durable, functional infrastructure tailored to each environment, reducing environmental impact and ensuring efficient operation throughout its entire lifespan.
