Port Tanger Med 2

Service pier for tugboats and pilot boats

The Tangier Med 2 Port Authority required a cost-effective, flexible, and scalable solution for mooring tugs and service vessels in a deep-water port with depths exceeding 18 meters that is constantly expanding.
MSI supplied special floating pontoons for tugboats, 10 meters wide and 2.7 meters high, designed to support vessels with a displacement of up to 500 tons. The mooring system was implemented using Seaflex elastic anchors, which allowed for efficient installation at great depths without the need for heavy-duty cranes.
Despite exposure to easterly storms with waves up to 1.5–2 meters high, the solution has demonstrated high resilience, providing a robust, reliable, and fully operational infrastructure to meet the port’s needs.
